Our Story

Workman and Associates can date its creation back to June, 1988, when David J. Workman started working with Private Ledger Financial Services after spending a couple of years working for a national brokerage firm in Rapid City, SD, and Kokomo, IN. Trying to follow the simple idea of “doing what is best for the client,” the business built itself one client relationship at a time. Whether it was going door-to-door, the Cass County 4-H fair, a weekly radio show, or through seminars/workshops, investors started being introduced to Dave’s conservative, service-oriented philosophy and making the decision to trust their investment affairs to Dave and his staff. The business is truly a family-owned and operated venture with Dave and his wife Beth making the day-to-day decisions on how best to create a model that emphasizes quality, integrity, and appreciation to those who choose to work with Workman and Associates.

As the number of clients increased, it became necessary to add more staff and upgrade technology to create an investment environment worthy of the trust placed when a client invests their life savings or a business owner decides to use Dave to run their retirement plan. The office currently employs four full-time associates dedicated to personal attention and account servicing. Over 90% of new clients come from referrals of the existing 2,000 plus clients with over $300,000,000 under management through LPL Financial. This has led Dave to being nationally recognized as a “Top 100 Independent Broker in America” by Rep Magazine in 2009 (award based on assets under management), American Funds Advisory Council 2014, and LPL’s Chairman Council (based on production), which represents the top 2% of the more than 13,500 LPL brokers. Dave is starting to work with the third generation of families, but is constantly looking at ways to improve every aspect of advice and service offered.
